"Jack, next time you get a bright idea just put it in a memo!"

The Hunt for Red October
Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, Sam Neill, James Earl Jones (1990)
134 minutes
Rated PG

Jack Ryan (Baldwin) writes books for the CIA about naval tactics. When they discover that the Russians have created a submarine that can move silently and cannot be picked up by their sonar while moving silently, they call in Ryan to advise them. He, knowing more background on the submarine's captain, Marko Ramius (Connery), than they do, realizes that Ramius and his other officers intend to defect. Now, Ramius has the Russians after him and the Americans, until Ryan is able to convince the Americans of Ramius's intent. The only problem? Someone on the Red October does not want to defect.

Best part of the movie? Alec Baldwin's Sean Connery imitation. Also, Stellan SkarsgÄrd is in it.
Worst part of the movie? One of my favorite characters dies.
